31 Days of Learning to Breathe: Winds of Change

Yesterday was one of those days that I could just not bring myself to posting. too much this and that happening and I couldn't just sit and focus.

The other day I talked about air quality and the importance of making sure what we are breathing in and out is healthy. One thing we noticed during those few weeks where air quality was a concern, was that all it took was a shift in the winds to move the smoke either away from us or towards us.  If the winds blew in our favor, we were able to enjoy the outdoors, making it so much more enjoyable. If they blew towards us, ugghh...we spent most of our time indoors with maybe brief moments of outdoor activity.

The same goes with life. Sometimes we may think "this is just my life, I can't help what or who I'm surrounded by. But you can help it, at least to some degree. And what you can't help, you can make some shifts that would make things better. You can bring about winds of change that will improve the quality of air that you are breathing in and breathing out. Maybe it's a change of attitude, maybe it's a change of friends, or workplace, or maybe it's getting off social media or at least being pickier with who you are friends with. Maybe it's a shift in the way you think, your mindset.

Maybe you don't know how amazing you are. That you are a beautiful reflection of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and they are "especially fond of you". Maybe your freedom and the winds of change lie in realizing who you've always been and waking up to that and embracing it. When we can truly know it and believe it, it often doesn't matter what is happening around us because we have such a greater peace and confidence in our identity. My heart breaks when I see time and again people speaking negative words over their own life. I've been guilty of it myself. The difference comes in quickly recognizing it and making a change in thinking.

How do we make the shift? Changing the way we think, what we say, what we read, listen to and watch. Who we choose to surround ourselves with. What we believe to be true about ourselves and others. Changing bad habits.

What about you? What have you done to make the air around you healthier?

Have you ever had your heating ducts cleaned? What? They should be cleaned? Do you suffer from breathing issues at home? Allergies? Dust? You probably need your air ducts cleaned. They can get clogged with all sorts of dirt, debris and allergens. When they are kept clean, the quality of the air in your home improves. when they are neglected, you suffer, often without knowing why.

Let's get those winds moving in our direction!

With Joy Unquenchable,
